JC half scale halfscale baby printrbot simple IMG_6421_copy

On September 19, 2014, the halfscale Simple was born.  Several weeks prior, I had taken the Printrbot Simple 1405 artwork to a laser cutter and cut it at half scale (actually 0.53).  I obtained 4mm rods from McMaster, linear bearings on eBay, and Nema 8 motors from Pololu.com.  I also selected a number of appropriate parts for the extrusion head, and I turned some brass on a lathe to make a small Z coupler and Z nut.  With a few intense days of work, I had a printer that moved in X, Y, and Z.  A few days later I had it printing.

  1. Do you have the design files and/or BOM available for this design?
I have a collection of 5mm silver steel rods and lots of stepper motors, so I figured this would be a good project to put them to use. I would be good if you had the CAD files available.

    1. It sounds like a good use for them! The miniatures use Nema 8 and Nema 11 motors. The design files are not ready for public consumption yet. Probably in a few weeks.
